The IT for Change Social Report

Programming, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

With a team of 50 odd members, IT for Change has come a long way since its early days. Keeping in lockstep with the expansion of our footprint, we remain committed to bolstering pan-organizational readiness, and streamlining programming priorities and organizational practices to optimize our strategies and approaches. IT for Change Team 2023

Engineering vital learning, interaction, and professional development opportunities for team members.

  • The Prakriye field team undertook cross-learning visits with various organizations, including the Equal Community Foundation and Men Against Violence and Abuse, to understand their engagement strategies with adolescent boys on gender sensitization. Additionally, the impact evaluation of our project on gender-based violence in rural Mysuru, which we initiated in 2022 has yielded important learnings for our field strategies. We are excited to envision new directions for Prakriye and its information centers, and will be starting needs assessment and sentiment analysis workshops in the upcoming months.
  • We took significant steps to deepen our understanding and commitment to inclusion. Some members of our education team enrolled in and completed courses on inclusive education and have been able to apply the same towards their work in schools.
  • Throughout the year, we organized team-building workshops, which have proven to be highly beneficial in fostering team solidarity and establishing a shared sense of purpose. Additionally, we hosted annual get-togethers in Bengaluru and Mysuru, which saw active participation from employees and their families. These events provided an opportunity for individuals to connect on a personal level outside the work environment, strengthening bonds among team members.
  • The Education team organized monthly learning-sharing sessions where members presented their insights from their work, and occasionally, articles and books were read together and discussed.

Continued improvements to human resource and administrative functions.

  • We made policy and process updates in our key departments, including Human Resources, Administration, Finance, Technology, and Communications. In particular, we crystallized policies on remote and hybrid work arrangements to enhance organizational workflow, and updated our performance review processes.
  • We conducted a comprehensive survey across all teams to gauge employee perception. The feedback received has been instrumental in driving necessary actions to address concerns and improve employee satisfaction.
  • We introduced monthly and quarterly reporting and review mechanisms with respect to our human resource, finance, and administrative functions, and initiated an internal audit process to enhance our financial resilience.
  • As part of organizational strengthening, we have also started the preliminary scoping towards an organizational development assessment that will be undertaken in the last quarter of 2023-24.
