The IT for Change Social Report

Programming, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

This year, our team grew to over 55 members, reflecting the expanding scope of our work. Alongside this growth, we focused on strengthening internal systems, refining programmatic priorities, and evolving organizational processes to better respond to a rapidly shifting external landscape. These efforts have significantly enhanced our ability to manage complex initiatives, engage meaningfully in global policy spaces, and nurture collaborations that drive systemic change.

Building a collaborative workplace

We undertook a range of initiatives to cultivate a workplace that is structured, caring, and responsive to individual and team aspirations:

  • Rolled out a designation and career progression framework across teams, grounded in sectoral benchmarks and internal consultations. The framework outlines key competencies for each level, offering staff a clear and holistic view of professional growth within the organization.
  • Introduced assistance for children’s education and essential medical expenses for select staff based on income criteria, as a part of our broader commitment to workplace equity.
  • Conducted open house meetings to create space for open dialogue between staff and leadership on performance, career growth, organizational culture, and employee benefits.
  • Facilitated team-level planning and reflection workshops to align annual objectives and strengthen interpersonal relationships—essential for collaborative work as we expand.
  • Organized expert-led capacity-building sessions tailored to different teams, focusing on communication, trust-building, collaboration, and gender sensitivity—skills critical for work in a mission-driven, cross-functional setting.
  • Encouraged staff to pursue external courses and attend relevant seminars and conferences, while continuing our internal knowledge-sharing sessions to promote cross-team learning.
  • Organized focused training sessions for supervisors to strengthen their understanding of people-development practices and organizational policies as part of internal capacity building.
  • Celebrated our Annual Day with staff and their families. Riveting performances by staff (including a Yakshagana act) and fun activities reinforced our sense of community beyond daily work routines.

Advancing equity and inclusion

Our growth continues to remain grounded in the values of social justice, equity, and inclusion. We aim to embed these values in both our institutional policies and everyday practices:

  • As of March 31, 2025, women comprised over 60% of our team and held 66% (8 out of 12) of senior leadership positions, underscoring our commitment to feminist leadership and representative decision-making.
  • Continued efforts to build a workplace that is safe, inclusive, and enabling for individuals from diverse and marginalized backgrounds, guided by an intersectional lens on gender and social justice.

Strengthening Institutional Systems and Accountability

We focused on improving coherence and effectiveness across core operational functions to ensure alignment with our strategic goals and compliance responsibilities:

  • Updated and streamlined policies and workflows across People and Organization Development, finance, technology, and communications, balancing rigour with flexibility to meet the demands of a growing team.
  • Engaged a law firm to review our Memorandum and Articles of Association to ensure alignment with our evolving institutional vision and contemporary sectoral best practices. After required consultations, the amendments were adopted and implemented.
  • Implemented a new delegation framework for financial decisions, aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening internal accountability.
  • Enhanced internal communications to keep staff informed and engaged with updates to policies and procedures.
  • Sharpened monthly and quarterly review systems across support functions.
